About the Role
Creates manufacturing CAM programs, including process designing, drawing requirement studies,
continuous improvement, and NC programming.
Job Description
- Programming: Creating and optimizing CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs to
control machinery and tools in manufacturing processes. This involves translating
engineering designs into instructions that machines can understand and execute.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in CAM software tools such as Catia, SolidCAM,
MasterCAM or NX. CAM programmers need to be adept at using these tools to generate
toolpaths, define machining operations, and simulate the manufacturing process and
verify in Vericut.
- Tool Selection: Selecting appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and other machining
parameters based on the requirements of the part to be manufactured and the capabilities
of the CNC machines.
- Optimization: Optimizing machining processes for efficiency, accuracy, and
cost-effectiveness. This includes minimizing material waste, reducing cycle times, and
maximizing machine utilization.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring that machined parts meet quality standards and
specifications through thorough testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of CNC programs
and machining processes.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with engineers, designers, and production personnel to
understand project requirements, resolve issues, and implement improvements in
manufacturing processes.
- Documentation: Documenting CNC programs, machining processes, and quality control
procedures for future reference and continuous improvement.
- Training and Support: Providing training and support to machine operators and other
personnel involved in the manufacturing process to ensure proper execution of CNC
programs and adherence to quality standards.
- Continuous Learning: Staying updated with advancements in CAM software, machining
technologies, and industry best practices through training, workshops, and professional
development activities.
